FitShield ships from one shared source tree, so the same code runs on Chromium browsers and Firefox, and the same engine and data power the Android app preview. Here is where each platform stands today.

Installing from source

  1. Chromium: download the repo, open the extensions page, enable Developer Mode, and choose Load unpacked.
  2. Firefox: open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox, choose Load Temporary Add-on, and select the extension's manifest.json.

Is FitShield on the Chrome Web Store?

Yes. FitShield is published on the Chrome Web Store, so Chrome, Brave, and Edge users can install it in one click. You can also load it unpacked from the GitHub source.

Does FitShield work on Firefox?

Yes. FitShield is published on Firefox Add-ons, so Firefox 140+ and Firefox for Android 142+ users can install it in one click. You can also load it from source via about:debugging.

Is FitShield free?

Yes. FitShield is completely free and open source under the GPLv3 license — no accounts, no ads, and no paid tier.

Does FitShield work on mobile?

FitShield reaches Android two ways. Firefox for Android 142+ can install the extension from Firefox Add-ons (on-device blocking is not yet fully verified), and a native Android app preview — a downloadable APK on FitShield's GitHub Releases page, not on the Play Store yet — filters food sites on-device and can optionally pause blocked food apps. iOS Safari is not supported because it does not allow this type of extension.
